The people of India returned that, which then extended the truce north to Siechen Glacier.Within 11days of December there were two attempts made to assasinate the Pakistan president. The security agencies suspected that the assasins were allies with al Queda and theTalbian. It was thaought that they might be seeking revenge on Musharraf's attempts to shutdown the organizations. Alo in December Musharraf declared Pakistan would drops its demand on a Kashmir-wide measure the the future of the area. And although this was welcomed by India for a while but, they did not reciprocate which enraged the pakistainains even more. So as and overall count in the year 2003 there were about 2,500 people were killed in the Kashmir violence.

Although these two counties seem to be ok by resolving the status of 100,000 people that were in a UN refugee camp in Nepal, the seven-month peace talks between the two goverments broke down late that August. The main reason is Maoist's demand for an assembly to write a new constitution. The goverment gave him the offer of opening up the current amendments. Yet they insited that the "constitutional monarchy, multi-party democracy, and national unity were non-negotiable." In the following three months the people of the goverment claimed that it had killed more than 1,000 people.
Indonesia and The Philippines
In 2003 headlines were captured by these two countries for their part in the war. Among the the many groups there was one that man the stood out, Jemaah Islamiah. He was said to have people in Indonesia but in The Philippines as well. He is aslo believed to be the cause of the car bombing of the Jakarta Marriot Hotel in July.In other parts of Indonesia peace talks can be heard between Jakarta and Free Aceh Movement.A martial law declairtion followed the first wave of 40,000 or so goverment troops that were sent with the 5,000 or so member GAM.
